"If I have learned anything from getting my BFA in New York and from intently studying the works of old and modern master in America and Europe, it is that style, even subject matter, do not create a masterpiece.  It is the paintings presence, power, mystery and perhaps a touch of the sublime which command a viewer's attention.  Two of my most significant New York teachers drummed this into me."

Many other influences reflect in my paintings.  I have especially studied the work of painters from the 17th century to well- known contemporaries.  It is an eclectic mix.  All have given me insight into how to convey my own images and ideas.

This eclectic mix of influences does not necessarily produce a cohesive body of paintings.  There is a dichotomy between the Expressionistic and Photorealistic tendencies in my work that I hope to bring into a style continuum- given more time and more painting."
