From the Artist:I began evening painting classes at the age of 26, my first ever art classes, while working as a grants administrator at the University of Pennsylvania. The challenge and joy of painting led me to graduate from Moore College of Arts in
Philadelphia in 1989.

I made my home in the Adirondack Mountains of New York working in forestry research; hiking the vast woods, streams and mountains. For a girl who grew up in a big city this was exciting and the place where the love of plein air paintings was firmly established.

One winter night the Adirondack skies dances with the most beautiful colors - the Aurora Borealis. Upon investigation, I discovered one of the best places to view the Aurora was Fairbanks, Alaska. In the winter of 1991 I came to Alaska for a short visit, a year or two at best. But as everyone knows, Alaska is full of treasures, I met and married my beloved Michael. Michael is convinced there is no place like Alaska, that short visit has become home.

The long cold winters are a challenge for a plein air painter, but where there is a will, there is a way, and space heaters for cars. Summers bring mosquitoes the size we never had back east. Mosquito coils have become my closest companions on outdoor expeditions. These challenges are my incentives to paint with passion and conviction.

I have shown my work in several National Art Shows as well as in New York and Pennsylvania. The most meaningful showings are to friends and family in whose homes hang my paintings. Especially those who encouraged me in the beginning, when
painting was still becoming an acquired skill. As everyone knows, early artwork is only sought once you've become known, before that they are just colorful arrangements of - something. Thanks to all those who cheered me on, I persevered.

Each day I awake I have been given the
gift of life anew. The moments of each day bring the precious gift of experiencing what the Lord has created. With the talent I have been entrusted, I try to capture the sense of wonder and joy of creation anew each day. My hope is that these paintings will speak of this wonder and bring joy to others.
