About the artist:
Vladimir Zhikhartsev was born in Krasnodar, Russia (near the Black Sea) and there he received his art education. He began sculpting ice in Fairbanks in 1991. Since then, as captain of his team, he has won first, second and third place awards as well as People's Choice and Artist's Choice. He and Nadia Fedotova have made numerous ice sculpting demonstrations in local schools.

Vladimir has traveled the world as an artist, developing his style in various media including watercolor, acrylic, oil, ice and even sand.

In 1997, as a sand sculpture, he participated in San Diego's first International Sand Sculpture Festival.

Vladimir currently teaches ice carving in Fairbanks Alaska as well as watercolor and drawing.
